WEEK 16 DAY 2

Today’s workout was part personal training, part marathon nutrition consultation, part race day pace strategy session– all rolled in to one.  (There was also a sprinkling of counseling appointment in there when Heather asked me the loaded question, “Why are you so hard on yourself?”   Once open, that can of worms would have taken way too long to sift through, so we shifted gears back to the aforementioned trio.)

Which brings me back to the reasons I love working out at Urban Escape Fitness.  Of course the workouts are amazing, but the community I’ve found here is extraordinary.  When I came in to the studio to log a few miles before my multi-faceted session with Heather, I was warmly acknowledged by some of my greatest cheerleaders and friends- other members.  The support and expertise generously offered by Heather, and the other trainers, are like nothing I have experienced elsewhere.  Today’s workout session(s) strengthened my body and mind, and lifted my spirt (almost) out of a marathon training funk.  Hopefully, tapering will take care of the rest.

  1. Wow, this really beats the usual (lonely) marathon training method….wish I lived closer! Sure beats the Y, where people would yell at us for talking on the treadmill, dontcha miss it?

Please let me know what you think!
