WEEK 12 DAY 3

Although I never logged the 8 miles scheduled for today, at least I did spend a portion of my morning thinking and talking about running.  I blew off my workout to dutifully attend a Welcome Coffee at my daughter’s elementary school.  Last spring I volunteered to be the chairperson for the Running Club, an enrichment offering which has been in hibernation for the past couple of years.  Since this is my daughter’s final tour before middle school, I stepped down from the PTA Board and up to the plate to get this particular club up and running.  So I talked, and talked, and talked to anyone and everyone who would listen about the benefits of exercise for the children, and no they did not have to be runners themselves to volunteer, and its for the children, and sign right here, and its all about the children, and which days and times are you available, and I’m not letting you go on to the next committee table until you give me your name, email and phone number…. Have I mentioned I can be very persuasive?

I left that function feeling accomplished, ravenous and ready for a celebratory brunch with a few fellow newly emancipated moms.  In consideration of my recent digestive disruption, I cautiously nursed myself back to health via the most restorative trilogy- mimosas, food and conversation.  Sometimes all a runner needs is a break… and some booze.

Please let me know what you think!
