Party Training is the best! It requires some forethought, planning, and few wonderfully supportive friends, but really makes a 17-miler as enjoyable as humanly possible. I was out my front door (Point A) at 7:15am and jogged a solo warm-up 4.6 miles to Point B. There I had time for a quick pit stop and water bottle refill before I was met by my first two fellow party-trainers. We ran (a much faster) 3.5 miles together before they turned around to head back the way we came. I continued on, solo again for about 1 mile before I reached Point C and my third and final friend. We partied serious through those last, long 7.9 miles, stopping once for a bathroom break and water. We discussed much, at times laughing and others groaning (OK that was me). Since I traveled from the southern most point in town to the northernmost on foot, TPM/#3 was kind enough to run me to her house (Point D), feed me a latte and drive me home. I showered, took my son out to lunch, picked up my daughter from a birthday party- completely alert but also in a haze of disbelief. Did I really just do all that before 10:30am? My post-run euphoria kept me going until about 3pm when I crashed in to the best recovery nap ever.
