I began week 7 with an anticipated day of rest and an unforeseen new venture, Camp Mom- Triathlon Training. I am no triathlete by any stretch of the imagination. I would have to be capable of swimming and cycling well in order to compete in such events. Luckily, it seems my kids are following in their father’s footsteps. They’re both on swim team, are competent bike riders and runners, and will be participating in their first triathlon in less than two weeks!
Camp Mom-Triathlon Training was conceptualized during Camp Mom, I’m Bored several weeks ago. Due to family vacation and then outsourced golf and tennis camps, today was the first day all three of our schedules could be synchronized. We began the day with a healthful breakfast and a neighborhood jog. Following a couple hour transition, we hit the pool where we met CMB during his lunch break. For the next hour, the Camp Director sunned herself while CMB doled out swimming drills to the campers. Lunch consisted of Mom’s homemade bean & cheese burritos and apple slices, the fuel of champions. I won’t bore you with details of the rest of our day- competitive laundry folding, a group excursion to Safeway, etc. I will say this- seeing my kids voluntarily commit to an athletic goal and witnessing their tenacity in working towards it, makes me a Very Proud Mom.
