There are many people who inspire me to stick with training, even when I’m not feeling it. Today some freaky bearded men repeatedly serenaded me throughout a 6-mile pace run.
I was never much of a ZZ Top fan but “Legs” has been on my running playlist for years. I might have even had it on cassette for my yellow Sony Sports Walkman back in the day.
Although I warmed up and cooled down to some other stuff, I replayed this 1 tune for the bulk of my run. I can’t be sure whether the profound lyrics, “she’s got legs, she knows how to use ’em” kept me moving, or if the sheer monotony of hearing the same song over and over and over made me want to run faster and finish already. I kept pace the entire time and concluded the workout feeling fantastic and for some inexplicable reason, wanting to go shoe shopping.
