I’d been a YMCA member for much of my adult life. Pretty much anywhere you live, there is a Y with a weight room, cardio machines and classes. As far as I was concerned, all a runner needed was a room with a treadmill (for inclement weather) and some weights for cross-training. I rarely took classes. They just weren’t my thing.
As you’ve likely inferred from my previous posts, I’m a changed woman and I owe it all to Urban Escape Fitness (UEF)! Every morning when I arrive for class, I pause outside the door and whisper,
“Where have you been all my life?”
OK, maybe not every morning. Sometimes I kiss the door or high-five the sign.
But in all seriousness, I really do love this place. Heather, the owner, is a triathlete and incorporates an intensity in to the all of the classes offered that I have never experienced elsewhere. The trainers are hardcore yet encouraging and actually participate in the classes they teach. I am inspired every day not only by the awesome instructors or my own mind-blowing accomplishments (i.e. today’s 1-hour Boot Camp + 3 miles on the treadmill), but also from witnessing the hard-earned transformation of other clients.
Check it out for yourselves!
