I’m not a cyclist, unless riding the beach cruiser to a neighborhood park with my kids counts.  That’s why I’m just as surprised as the next runner that I’ve fallen in love with Brick class.  There’s something about spinning then running then spinning again then running again then spinning some more then running some more then feeling like I’m going to faint, vomit and spontaneously combust all in the span of one hour that I can’t live without.  Which is why I blew off my 3-mile training run and went to the gym instead.  If my perceived rate of exertion counts for anything, I’d say I logged at least 75 miles between 8:45am and 9:45am.

Fortunately, there happens to be a Starbucks two doors down from the gym.  My favorite way to celebrate such an excellent display of athleticism/insanity is with the above pictured tall nonfat latte  and a Nuun (dropped in the backup water bottle waiting in my car, not the coffee).  Protein for muscle recovery and electrolyte replacement for the mess I left all over the floor beneath my bike and treadmill. Cheers!

  1. One Nuun tablet in a tall glass of water before bed makes a pretty good hangover preventative as well (we all have our areas of expertise!).
